I work as a software development manager for Navy Federal Credit Union. We are the largest credit union in the world, having the United States Navy and Marine Corps as our primary fields of service. My main responsibility for Navy Federal is as the supervisor of Home Banking development. I lead a team of developers who do our best to provide web-based banking services to our members. We’re in the middle of a sea change in technology right now, migrating from older C++ and Visual Basic applications towards Java-based development. WebSphere is the app server of choice at Navy Federal, and our team is actively engaged in trying to learn and master as much of the J2EE alphabet soup as we can. We’re also learning how to use these new technologies to wrap our myriad legacy mainframe systems.
